515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117-1600
(65l) 766-4029 / FAX: (65 I) 766-4048
www.ci.little-canadionn.us
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Keis and Members of the City Council
FROM: Kathy Glanzer, City Clerk
DATE: January 9, 2015
RE: Application for Exempt Gambling Permit
Church of St. Odilia-Men's Club Benefit
February 9, 2015 at The Little Venetian
MAYOR
John Keis
COUNCIL,
Rick Montour
Michael McGraw
Tom Fischer
Christian Torkelson
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
The Church of St. Odilia is requesting an Exempt Gambling Permit for their Men's Club Benefit
to be held on February 9, 2015 at The Little Venetian. The Exempt Gambling Permit requested
would cover bingo and a raffle. St. Odilia's has previously held this fund-raising dinner at
Kozlak's, but given this venue no longer exists is moving the event to The Little Venetian for
2015.
It should be noted that the City's Lawful Gambling Ordinance does provide the Council the
ability to act on Exempt Gambling Permits without compliance with the provisions of this
Ordinance that apply to organizations that operate pull -tab sites or conduct bingo in the City on a
regular basis. The City recently approved an Exempt Gambling Permit for Rebuilding Together
Twin Cities for a fund-raising raffle that they held at Joe's Sporting Goods.
Staff is recommending approval of the Exempt Gambling Permit for The Church of St. Odilia
pending receipt of a satisfactory sheriff's background check on Father Phillip Rask.
1
