515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117-1600
(651) 766-4029 / FAX: (651) 766-4048
www.ci.little-canada.mn.us
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Keis and Members of the City Council
FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator
DATE: January 15, 2015
RE: Quiet Zone Update
MAYOR
John Kcis
COUNCIL.
Rick Montour
Michael McGraw
Tom Fischer
Christian Torkclson
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
Dave McKenzie, SEH, will he present at Wednesday's workshop to present a progress update on
the status of the Quiet Zone process. Lee Elfering, City Engineer, will also be present to review
a rough layout and some estimated costs in relation to closing Woodlyn Avenue and rerouting
traffic to South Owasso Blvd.
We have met with the impacted businesses and there was little to no support for the relocation of
Woodlyn due to a variety of issues. However, we do not think the businesses are fully
considering the impact that signalizing this crossing will have on them. If the Council has any
desire to pursue closing the crossing, we will need to move quickly and, hopefully this workshop
will provide staff with direct in this regard.
