515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117-1600
(651) 766-4029 / FAX: (651) 766-4048
w w w. c i.l i t t l e -c an ad a. nm. u s
MEMORANDUM
TO: Maya• Keis and Members of the City Council
FROM: Kathy Glanzer, City Clerk
DATE: January 16, 2015
RE: Appointment to Parks & Recreation Commission
MAYOR
John Keis
COUNCIL.
Rick Montour
Michael McGraw
Tom Fischer
Christian Torkclson
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
Given Jeff Heikke's appointment to the Planning Commission, the remaining two years of
Heikke's term on the Parks & Recreation is vacant. The Council recently authorized staff to
advertise this vacancy and, as a result, two letters of interest were received. One was received
from the outgoing Chair Patti Sullivan who rethought her decision not to apply for
reappointment. The other was received from Jon Joriman. Attached are the letters of interest
submitted.
Given the City's knowledge of these two applicants, the decision was made to not proceed with
formal interviews.
The action before the Council is to appoint one of these applicants to the remaining two-year
term on the Parks & Recreation Commission
Please also note that the updated Commission Ordinance calls for the Mayor to make a
recommendation for Planning Commission Chair with the Council making the actual
appointment. The Parks & Recreation Commission will then select their own Vice Chair at their
next meeting.
1
