They are detailed below.
1. While Electro Watchman was installing the card reader system at the new public works
facility they discovered that a crucial electronic component was left off of the
electrician's scope of work and not specified in Electro Watchman's initial work scope
either. The component is an option module on the power supply, which provides
connection to the access control system.
A total of six option boards are required at $114 each. Along with three hours of labor at
$100 per hour the total cost of the change order is $984.00.
2. Staff also had to purchase access control tokens for the door readers. There are two
options: keyfobs and keycards. Any combination of tokens can be purchased but they
must be purchased in packs of ten and the representative from Electro Watchman said
they are cheaper on the front end than to order them down the line so he recommended
ordering extras now. There was some interest for both styles but more for the keyfobs so
staff is recommending the purchase of 30 keyfobs for $183 and ten keycards for $31.
That is a total of $214 for the tokens.
Some changes were made for the electronic gate off of Centerville Road. The original.
design had a proximity reader that would open the gate. It was decided that the better•
option is to have door controllers in the trucks that will operate the gate much like a
garage door opener. This resulted in a deduction for Electro Watchman's work of
$445.12
The three change orders bring the total contract amount to $12,352.00, which is below the
budgeted number for security. Staff recommends approving the three change orders from electro
Watchman.
