The City Planner pointed out that the ordinance amendment <br />proposes maintenance free material such as vinyl, brick, or weather - <br />resistant metal or wood. <br />Duray asked if the City has received other requests for fencing of this <br />nature. The Planner indicated that this is the only one he is aware of. <br />Ledin suggested that if this moves forward, the City should have the <br />ability to negotiate materials and color in context with what adjacent <br />neighbors may propose. The City Planner stated that that could be done as <br />part of the CUP process. <br />Buesing again indicated the need for a structural engineer to sign off on a <br />fence plan for a fence that is 12 feet in height. The City Planner indicated <br />that he would obtain the Building Official's input on whether or not it was <br />necessary for a structural engineer to review and sign off on a plan for a <br />12 foot high fence. <br />Murphy recommended approval of an Amendment to the Zoning Code <br />relating to special purpose fences adjacent to railroad rights-of-way as <br />recommended by the City Planner in his report dated May 7, 2015 with the <br />additional condition that a structural engineer would be required to review <br />and sign off on a fence plan for a fence of this nature. <br />Motion seconded by Ledin. <br />Motion carried 6 — 0. <br />30 LITTLE The City Planner reported that when the City proposes to purchase <br />CANADA property the Planning Commission is required to comment on whether or <br />ROAD not the purchase and intended use of the property was compatible with the <br />Comprehensive Plan. The Planner indicated that the City is giving <br />consideration to the purchase of 30 Little Canada Road for park purposes. <br />Ledin felt that this was a great idea and helps to clean up the area and <br />works toward making a continuous park area. <br />Duray asked the City's plan for this park area. The City Clerk indicated <br />that the area would be a continuation of Veterans' Memorial Park with the <br />likely addition of a walking path along Round Lake. She noted that there <br />is one more property left to be acquired to make for a contiguous park <br />area. <br />6 <br />
