The evaluation will determine the following:
1. Should the vehicle be replaced at the scheduled date?
2, Could the vehicle be refurbished to prolong its useful life?
3. Is the vehicle in such a condition that the replacement date could be extended
without being refurbished?
4. Is the vehicle in such a condition that the replacement date needs to be moved up?
For the grass rig/pickup the evaluation above will apply, but the committee will be formed at the 10 year
mark.
The committee will be reconvened 2 years prior to the estimated replacement date (unless the original
committee meeting date fell into this date range) to again evaluate the above mentioned criteria.
The committee report will be forwarded to the Board of Directors for their review and action.
** Estimated replacement cost — For all vehicles except the grass rigs/pickups the cost is an estimate
using a 6 % increase per year, based on the vehicle's original purchase price. For the grass rigs/pickups the
cost was calculated using a 3 % increase per year. The 6 % is a rough standard used by the fire truck
industry. The 6 % increase should account for annual inflation, technological advances, and mandates
imposed by the National Fire Protection Association.
