MINUTES OF THE WORKSHOP MEETING <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />SEPTEMBER 12, 2007 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a workshop meeting of the City <br />Council of Little Canada, Minnesota was convened on the 12th day of <br />September, 2007 in the Council Chambers of the City Center located at <br />515 Little Canada Road in said City. <br />Mayor Bill Blesener called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. and the <br />following members of the City Council were present at roll call: <br />CITY COUNCIL: <br />Mayor <br />Council Member <br />Council Member <br />Council Member <br />Council Member <br />Mr. Bill Blesener <br />Ms. Barb Allan <br />Mr. John Keis <br />Mr. Mike McGraw <br />Mr. Rick Montour <br />ALSO PRESENT: <br />City Administrator <br />Finance Director <br />Fire Department <br />Cable TV Producer <br />City Clerk <br />Mr. Joel R. Hanson <br />Ms. Shelly Rueckert <br />Mr. Steve Morelan <br />Ms. Vanessa Van Alstine <br />Ms. Kathy Glanzer <br />2008 The purpose of this evening's workshop meeting is to review the 2008 <br />PRELIMINARY Preliminary Budget. <br />BUDGET <br />The Finance Director presented the Council with a preliminary 2008 <br />Budget document, noting that the City must certify its preliminary levy to <br />the County by September 15, 2007. She indicated that the primary focus <br />of tonight's review would be funds that require tax levy support. The <br />Director indicated that the first section of the General Fund Budget to be <br />reviewed this evening is the Little Canada Fire Department Budget. <br />Steve Morelan, representing the Little Canada Fire Department, began <br />with a detailed review of the Fire Department's proposed 2008 Budget. <br />The 2007 Budget level was $234,762.22, and the proposed 2008 Budget is <br />$258,360.34, representing a 10.31 % increase. Morelan reviewed <br />Operating Expenses and noted that under the Building line item, utilities <br />and building maintenance and repairs were under budget, therefore this <br />line item was reduced by 7.92% for 2008. Blesener asked about payment <br />for the Fire Station roof replacement. It was noted that funds came from <br />the General Capital Improvement Fund for the roof project. <br />
