MINUTES <br />Parks & Recreation Commission <br />April 5, 2007 <br />Mans felt it would be nice to work with the Marianis to grant their request since coaches are <br />hard to find. He asked the Director to please check into making this work. <br />OTHER Reports on the following were also made: <br />BUSINESS <br />• The ball sign-ups are ongoing. Baseball registrations have been extended through Friday, <br />April 13, 2007. <br />• The Friends of the Parks & Trails is holding a tree sale. A flyer was distributed to the <br />Commissioners with details. The deadline for orders is April 18. Trees can be donated for <br />planting within any park in Ramsey County. <br />• The LCRA will be holding its annual casino fundraising trip on Saturday, April 14, 2007. A <br />flyer was distributed with details on this event. <br />• A letter was received yesterday from Principal Scott Allen of Little Canada Elementary <br />School requesting that the lower parking lot at Spooner Park be locked during school hours. <br />He stated that questionable activity is occuiYing in the parking lot and they are concerned for <br />the safety of the children. The Director stated that he has left a message with Allen to get <br />more details as to exactly what is going on. He felt that extra police patrol may be the <br />answer. He would hate to see access to the lower lot closed since someone would have to <br />lock and unlock it daily. Davis agreed, stating that she would hate to see access denied for <br />those who would like to play tennis or use the lower shelter. <br />• Steinert stated that due to his work schedule, he does not always know if he will be able to <br />attend upcoming Commission meetings. He wanted to reassure the Commissioners that he <br />still enjoys serving and he tries to attend when possible. <br />• Fahey stated that she would like to approach the LCRA for funds to replant the entrance to <br />Pioneer Park. She indicated that the flowers were planted about 15 years ago and are in bad <br />need of replacement. She felt that Sanders could present a plan with estimates at the next <br />meeting. She commented that she wanted the area to look nice and be easy to maintain. <br />The area doesn't see much water so the plants would have to be hardy. <br />TOUR OF The Director stated that the annual tour of the parks will begin at 6:30 p.m. before next month's <br />PARKS meeting. Commissioners should meet at Little Canada City Center and then they could carpool <br />over to Pioneer Park to view the entrance that was discussed earlier at tonight's meeting.
