MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
APRIL 12, 2007
Duray reported that the Planning Commission is excited about the Hom
Furniture interest in this site, and indicated that the empty building has been
deteriorating and looks bad. Johansen indicated that their plans are for an
updated concept and feel to Hom Furniture's current presentation.
Duray asked about the electronic signage that is being requested. Johansen
indicated that Hom Furniture is able to comply with the City's current Code
requirements for electronic signage, that is limiting message changes to
once per 24 hours.
Duray recommended approval of the Text Amendment allowing furniture
retail and other retail uses compatible with furniture sales in the B-W
District subject to compliance with the City Planner's recommendations as
outlined in his Apri19, 2007 report, and subject to the City Planner's review
and approval of individual uses and noted in the Hom Furniture list
presented this evening.
Motion seconded by Pechmann.
Motion carried 6 - 0.
The Commission discussed the Text Amendment related to electronic
signage. Johansen reported that they would withdraw their requests for this
Text Amendment as well as the Variance for freestanding sign height, and
would live within the City's Codes for these two items.
Duray recommended denial of the Text Amendment related to electronic
signage requested by Hom Furniture based on the recommendation of the
City Planner as outlined in his report dated April 9, 2007, noting Hom
Furniture's withdrawal of this Text Amendment request.
Motion seconded by Barraclough.
Motion carried 6 - 0.
Mr. Duray recommended approval of the Conditional Use Permit related to
proof of parking for Hom Furniture subject to compliance with the City
Planner's recommendations as outlined in his April 9, 2007 report.
Motion seconded by Socha.
Motion carried 6 - 0.
-12-
