Ordinance No. 2007- _ Pa e 5 <br />which are not commercial messages are exempt; <br />~fl signs attached to trees and utility poles; <br />~ signs within public right-of-way except for official traffic signs and those specified <br />in subparagraph 9(k) and (I); <br />+h) signs which are designed to resemble official traffic signs except signs which are <br />used to control traffic on private property; <br />}~ abandoned signs or signs other than outdoor advertising structures that advertise <br />an activity, business, product or service no longer available on the premises on which <br />the sign is located; <br />~j~ signs attached to fences except athletic field fence panels according to <br />subdivision 1; <br />-k) illuminated signs which exhibit any of the following: <br />1) external illumination that is determined to interfere with safe traffic <br />operations; <br />2) the sign is directly oriented to any residential district; or <br />3) the level of illumination exceed standards specified in section 300.28, <br />subd. 2. <br />+~I) signs that obstruct the vision of pedestrians, cyclists, or motorists traveling on or <br />entering public streets; <br />+~m~ exterior signs that obstruct any window, door, fire escape, stairway or opening <br />intended to provide light, air, ingress or egress for any structure; <br />e~ signs that are in violation of the building code or the electrical code adopted by <br />the city; <br />~o~ blank signs; <br />ffpJ merchandise boxes or signs not affixed to a principal structure excluding signs <br />permitted in subdivision 8(d); <br />rq) outdoor advertising signs are not permitted in any zoning district, except that the <br />The str-ie~er~ language is deleted; the underlined language is inserted. <br />5- <br />
