Fahey pointed out that the Council has indicated that requests for on-street parking permits are to be handled liberally. The Ciiy Administrator agreed, but suggested that staff evaluate whether there is, in fact, no place in the yard for parking construction vehicles. The Administrator pointed out that the needs of residents must be balanced with the needs of pedestrians who utilize the on-street walking areas. Sandra Holm, Morrison Avenue resident, reported that she has had two near accidents pulling her car out from Mclvfenemy Street onto Little Canada Road. She noted that cars are parking in areas designated as no parking near the intersection thus impeding visibility. She further reported that she has asked that the Sheriff's Department enforce these no parking areas, and they have not done so. Holm felt that there was a serious safety issue write cars parking in no parking areas on Little Canada Road and VIc~lenemy Street for vehicular traffic as well as bike and pedestrian traffic. Holm felt that the parishioners at St. John's Church should not be above the law and should have to respect the no parking areas. Fahey stated that he can understand the need for no parking areas at the intersection of Little Canada Road and McMenemy Street in order to keep lines of sight open for traffic. However, he suggested that no parking signs on McMenemy Street in front of St. John's School could be removed until such time as building projects are completed and parking problems at the school resolved. Morelan suggested that the Sheriff's Department be told to enforce the no parking signs at the intersection. He also suggested that the curbs in these areas be painted yellow and that the no parking near the fire hydrants on Little Canada Road and Mc'vlenemy Street also be enforced. Holm pointed out that if parking is allowed on both sides of McMenemy Street, the traffic lanes will become verv narrow and it will be difficult both traffic lanes io be operational. Holm stated that she would prefer to see no narking remain on one side of the street.
