MINUTES
Parks & Recreation Commission
.lone 2, 2005
rARK Sanders compiled a tentative scope of work for updating Che Park Master Plan and gave
MASTER a copy Co the Commissioners. He stated that the original plan was developed in 1980 and
PLAN updated in 1990. Therefore, the plan is due for updating. He mentioned that the Metropolitan
Council is requiring all cities to complete an update of their Comprehensive Plan, including the
Park Master Plan, by 2007-2008. Sanders reviewed the scope of work with the Commissioners
in detail.
Sanders stated that the update should be complete by May 2006. He suggested setting up a
workshop with the City Council before work begins on the plan. Mans felt this workshop is
necessary to get feedback from the Council upfront. The Director stated that he will talk to the
Council to get a couple of dates from them for the workshop and then e-mail the Commissioners
Co make a final decision on the workshop date. Typically, the Council likes to meet before one
of their regularly scheduled meetings.
JULY Sackett Glaser asked if the Commissioners will be able to attend the July meeting due to
MEETING Independence Day. The Commissioners indicated thaC most could attend so the meeting will be
held as scheduled. Sanders handed out a list of skateboard parks to the Commissioners and
asked them to visit the sites individually. He stated that the Commission should meet to discuss
the Park Master Plan at 6:00 p.m. before their next meeting instead of touring the parks.
DIRECTOR'S The Director reported on the following items:
SPORT
• The Minnesota DNR stocked Gervais Mill Park with 1,000 5" blue gills.
• A request was received for placement of another dog bag dispenser in the Aspen Pond area.
This item has been ordered.
