MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
MAY 14, 2008
business. Sherman reported that both Culver's and the funeral home arc
O.K. with their proposed pad locations and each other. There was some
discussion on the parking, and it was noted that if the projects proceed,
formal plan reviewed would need to be done.
The consensus of the Council was favorable to the two potential users
subject to favorable building and site plan reviews, the Culver's building
being located on the front building pad, and compliance with the City's
architectural guidelines. Both Sherman and the Council agreed that the
next step would be for the Culver franchisees to obtain corporate approval
of the project. It was noted that the fi•anchisees currently own and operate
three other Culver's Restaurants.
The Council asked about the potential redevelopment of the First Bank
site. Sherman reported that he keeps trying, but First Bank is not
interested at this time.
The Council asked Sherman's opinion relative to the City's Rice
Street/Viking Drive site. Sherman felt this would be an ideal location for
a bank. It was noted that Abdo Markethouse is on the agenda for the
Regular Council meeting this evening asking for exclusive development
rights for a period of six months. Abdo has indicated that it is too
expensive to market this property without having exclusive development
rights.
Blesener asked if the Market Place pond would be adequate to handle the
run-off from the two building pad sites that were discussed this evening.
The City Adminishator indicated that the pond was sized to handle this
run-off, however, there may be additional infiltration requirements that
will have to be met.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:15 p.m.
William B esene~
Attest:
Joe Hanson, City Administrator
