MINUTES OF THE WORKSHOP MEETING CITY COUNCIL LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA APRIL 12, 1995 Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a workshop meeting of the Council of the City of Little Canada, Minnesota was held on the 12th day of April, 1995 in the Council Chambers of the City Center located at 515 Little Canada Road in said City. Acting Mayor Beverly Scalze called the meeting to order at 6:15 P.M. and the following members of the Council were present at roll call: MEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor Mr. Michael I. Fahey (arrived 6:30 P.M.) Council Member Mr. Jim LaValle Council Member Mr. Stf>_ve Morelan Council Member Mr. Bo1~ Pedersen Council Member Mrs. BE~verly Scalze ALSO PRESENT: City Admin. Mr. Joe:L Hanson Public Works Mr. Dav<a Harris Public Works Mr. Greg Hoag Admin. Ms. Kri:~ Van Admin. Asst. Mrs. Kaihy Glanzer PERSONNEL The purpose of tonight's workshop is to continue POLICY review of the proposed Personnel Policy. The Council began its review with the Disciplinary Action section. Discussion focused on hearings for employees who are dismissed, specifically for permanent fixll-time employees and permanent part-time employees, as well as the need to tie in Veteran's Preference issues. It was suggested that Paragraph B under "Demot:ion and Dismissal" may not be needed. In parag~-aph C, the wording "under Subdivision 4 of this sec~tion" should be replaced with "on written request to thca City Administrator within five days of the notice of dismissal". The City Administrator ind:icated that he would do some additional work on the Di:~ciplinary Action section as well as have the City Attorney review and comment. Council agreed that the last sentence iil the section paragraph under "Smoking Policy" should be eliminated. Also, typos were pointed out on pages 4:L and 50 which will be corrected. Council began a review of Options incluc~ed in the packet. The first was with regard to Sf;verance Pay.
