MINUTES OF TfIE WORKSHOP MEETING CITY COUNCIL LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA MAY 11, 1999 Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a workshop meetin~ of the City Council of Little Canada, Minnesota was held on the 11`~' day of May, 1999 in the Council Chambers of the City Center located at 515 Little Canada Road in said City. Mayor Michael I. Fahey called the meeting to order at 6:00 P.M. and the following members of the City Council were present at roll call: CITY COLINCIL: Mayor Mr. Michael I. Fahey Council Member Mr. Jim LaValle Council Member Mr. Steve Morelan Council Member Mr. Bob Pedersen Council Member Mrs. Beverly Scalze ALSO PRESENT: City Administrator Public Works Director Zoning Administrator Deputy Clerk Mr. Joel R. Hanson Mr. Greg Schroeder Ms. Elizabeth Mursko Mrs . Kathy Glanzer RYAN The purpose of tonight's wa~kshop meeting is to review and discuss INDUSTRIAL code enforcement issues relative to Ryan Industrial Park. The City PARK Administrator indicated that staff would like the direction of the City Council regarding key Code issues prior to the processing of Conditional Use Permits in Ryan Industrial Park as a part of the City's code enforcement efforts in the Park. Mursko reviewed an overview she put together summarizin~ exterior storage requirements in place in both Little Canada and surrounding cities. She pointed out that all require a Conditional Use Permit in industrial areas as well as have some screening requirements. Storage is confined to the side and rear yards. While security is an issue with regard to screening in some cities, others have required the screening without addressing security concerns that property owners may have. Most cities require 100% screening or fully enclosed exterior storage. LaValle indicated that while the ordinances surrounding cities have in place are as reported by Mursko, the rea]ity is different.
