OBJECTIVES <br /> <br />Given the issues, problems, and opportunities discussed in Chapter Three and the goals stated in <br />Chapter Four, the WHP Plan delegates direct management efforts to the following areas to prevent <br />future contamination of the aquifer and increase awareness of groundwater protection: <br /> <br /> <br />A. Well Management <br />B. Public Education <br />C. Storage Tank Management <br />D. Septic Systems (ISTS) <br />E. Stormwater Management <br />F. Hazardous Waste Management <br />G. Data Collection <br />H. Water Conservation <br />I. Planning and Zoning <br />J. Implementation <br />K. Evaluation <br /> Each activity shall only be implemented in the sections of the DWSMA that are of the vulnerability level that is applicable to that specific action item per MDH requirements. In general, action items shall follow the basic rule for activities relating to the following areas: <br /> Low vulnerability areas – wells <br /> Moderate vulnerability areas – wells and tanks <br /> High vulnerability areas – all land uses and potential contaminant sources, including wells <br />and tanks <br />II. Plan of Action <br /> <br /> <br />A. WELL MANAGEMENT <br /> <br />Objective A1: Take measures to promote proper sealing of abandoned, unused, unmaintained, or <br />damaged wells. <br /> <br />Action A1.1: Make property owners aware of potential technical and financial resources that are <br />available to assist them in securing grant funding for properly sealing wells. <br /> <br />Who: City of Lino Lakes Sta ff <br />Cooperators: Anoka County, WellheadProtectionJoint PowersGroup <br />Time Frame: On‐going <br />Estimated Cost: $500 annually <br />How: Use the City’s website,newsletters,ordirect mailingstomake well owners <br />aware of well sealing cost‐share programs. Provide information to realtors to <br />pass along to property owners preparing to sell and during disclosure process. <br /> <br />
