CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 1D <br /> <br /> <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Karissa Henning, Human Resources Manager <br /> <br />MEETING DATE: July 25, 2016 <br /> <br />TOPIC: Revisions to Section 6.7 & 6.13 of the Personnel Policy <br /> <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br /> <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />The Council is being asked to approve revisions to Section 6.7 and 6.13 of the City of Lino <br />Lakes Personnel Policy. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />Revision to Section 6.7 Funeral Leave: <br />• The Personnel Policy currently allows five days of paid funeral leave for the death of a <br />spouse, child, or stepchild. It is recommended to allow an employee who has the loss of <br />a parent or stepparent five days of paid funeral leave as well. Many times with the death <br />of a parent or stepparent additional time is be needed to fulfil familial or legal duties, <br />such as being the executor of a will. Currently, three days are provided for the death of <br />a parent or stepparent. <br /> <br />Revision to Section 6.13 Parental Leave: <br />• To be in compliance with State law, the number of weeks for unpaid parental leave <br />needs to increase from six weeks to twelve weeks in the Personnel Policy. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />Staff recommends approval of the aforementioned revisions to Section 6.7 and 6.13 of the <br />Personnel Policy. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
