<br />CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 6H <br /> <br /> <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Diane Hankee, City Engineer <br /> <br />MEETING DATE: September 26, 2016 <br /> <br />TOPIC: Consider Resolution No. 16-118, Approving Payment No. 7 and <br />Final, Birch Street & Centerville Road Street and Trunk Utility <br />Improvement Project <br /> <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br /> <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br />Staff is requesting council action to finalize the Birch Street & Centerville Road Street and <br />Trunk Utility Improvement Project. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />The Birch Street & Centerville Road Street and Trunk Utility Improvement Project included <br />extending trunk sanitary sewer from Sherman Lake Road to the City property located at the <br />southeast corner of the Birch Street and Centerville Road intersection. It also included the <br />construction of two turn lanes and a bypass lane. The improvements will initially service the <br />proposed Fire Station, but will also service future development in the area in accordance with <br />the City’s comprehensive plan. <br /> <br />The original contract was awarded by the City on April 13, 2015 to Dresel Contracting, Inc. in <br />the amount of $631,759.75. The final contract amount is $642,206.05, extra quantity was used <br />for additional earthwork and restoration on the site. The payment of $43,652.70 remains to be <br />paid to the contractor. The total project cost with wetland mitigation, permits, engineering, <br />materials testing, legal, and bonding is $872,500.00. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />Approve Resolution No. 16-118, Approving Payment No. 7 and Final, Birch Street & <br />Centerville Road Street and Trunk Utility Improvement Project in the amount of $43,652.70 to <br />Valley Paving, Inc. <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS <br /> <br />1.
