<br />CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 6C <br /> <br /> <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Diane Hankee, City Engineer <br /> <br />MEETING DATE: September 8, 2016 <br /> <br />TOPIC: Consider Resolution No. 16-79 Approving the Plans & <br />Specifications and Authorizing the Ad for Bid, 2016 Aqua <br />Lane to Black Duck Drive Trunk Water Main Project <br /> <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 Vote Required <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />Staff is requesting Council approve of plans and specifications and authorizing advertisement for <br />bids for the 2016 Aqua Lane to Black Duck Drive Trunk Water Main Project. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />An analysis of the City’s Comprehensive Water Supply Plan has identified an area in need of <br />trunk water main improvements. Trunk water main improvement projects are based on safety and <br />functionality needs, input from Public Works, and feasibility of locations. The proposed <br />improvement project will create a looped water system that will provide residents with high <br />quality water supply and adequate pressure for fire demand. The proposed project includes trunk <br />water main improvements along Aqua Lane, through the Anoka County Regional Park <br />(Chomonix Golf Course), along Sand Piper Drive and West Shadow Lake Drive, and connecting <br />to the existing water main on the north end of Black Duck Drive. The budget for the project is <br />$1,100,000. <br /> <br />The schedule for this project is as follows: <br />City Council Order Project, Authorizes Plans and Specifications March 23, 2015 <br />City Council Approves Plans and Specifications August 8, 2016 <br />City Council Authorizes Ad for Bids August 8, 2016 <br />City Open Bids September 1, 2016 <br />City Council Awards Contract September 12, 2016 <br />Construction Begins September 21, 2016 <br />Final Completion November 23, 2016 <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />Staff recommends adoption of Resolution No. 16-79 Approving the Plans & Specifications, <br />Authorizing the Ad for Bid, 2016 Trunk Water Main Project. <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS <br /> <br />1.
