January 8, 2013 Nick Anderse n, Development Associate Dominium 2905 Northwest Blvd., Ste 150 Plymouth, MN 55441 Re: 2013 HOME Grant and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Application s – City of Lino Lakes, MN Dear Mr. Anderse n, The City of Lin o Lakes is writing this letter in support of Dominium’s application s to the Anoka County 2013 HOME Investment Partnerships and CDBG Program s for assistance with the construction of affordable townhomes in the City’s Legacy at Woods Edge project near the 35 W/Lake Drive interchange. Anoka County has lon g been supportive of this mixed -use development in Lino Lakes, including participation in the reconstruction of the 35W /Lake Drive interchange and providing HOME funds for the construction of the Lakewood Apar tments workforce housing in 2004 . That funding was needed to assist with construction of the first apartment building in Lino Lakes and the first family -oriented affordable housing. Its success, under Dominium ownership and management, was a major step in providing a diversity of housing choices within the City. The proposed Dominium townhome project will further adva nce the City’s Town Center Design and Development Guide standards for housing density in the Legacy development, as well as advancing the Cit y’s ability to meet Metropolitan Council’s Livable Communities goals. An award of HOME and CDBG funds is essential to make the project financially feasible and allow Dominium to continue pursuing the project. The City looks forward to working with Dominium and Anoka County to move this important project for the City of Lino Lakes forward and to provide additional diversity of housing in southeast Anoka County.
