<br />CITY COUNCIL <br /> AGENDA ITEM 2A <br /> <br /> <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Sarah Cotton, Finance Director <br />DATE: November 28, 2016 <br />TOPIC: Second Reading of Ordinance No. 12-16, Establishing the <br />2017 Fee Schedule <br /> <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br /> <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />In order to provide for a more efficient and timely method of reviewing and adjusting the various <br />fees charged by the City, fees are consolidated into one schedule to be reviewed and adopted on <br />an annual basis. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />The City’s current fee schedule has been circulated to department directors with a request to <br />update or amend the schedule as appropriate for 2017. Staff has reviewed the fees in place to <br />ensure their ongoing equity and cost recovery ability. <br /> <br />Ordinance No. 12-16 (the proposed 2017 Fee Schedule) is attached. Recommended amendments <br />to the ordinance are printed in red. The changes proposed for 2017 are outlined below for your <br />review: <br /> <br />Building Permits, Escrow Deposit Administrative Fee, Lateral Service Connection Fees, <br />Surface Water Management, Land Use, and Development Fees – Staff has adjusted fees to <br />account for inflationary increases; they are generally consistent with neighboring cities. <br /> <br />The Council approved the first reading of Ordinance No. 12-16 on November 14, 2016. Staff is <br />now recommending approval of the second reading and summary publication of the ordinance. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />1. Approve the second reading of Ordinance No. 12-16, Establishing the 2017 Fee Schedule <br />2. Approve Resolution No. 16-158, Authorizing Summary Publication of Ordinance No. 12-16
