CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 4B <br /> <br /> <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: John Swenson, Public Safety Director <br /> <br />MEETING DATE: November 28, 2016 <br /> <br />TOPIC: Acceptance of Monetary Donation to Lino Lakes Public <br />Safety Canine Unit <br /> <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br /> <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />The Lino Lakes Public Safety Department is requesting council approval to accept a donation of <br />$15,000 from the Coss Family Foundation through their Grant Administrator, The Saint Paul <br />Foundation. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />On November 1, 2016 staff received notification from The Saint Paul Foundation that a donor <br />wished to make a donation of $15,000 to the Lino Lakes Public Safety Police Division Canine <br />Unit. <br /> <br />The donor stipulated that the donation be used for training equipment for our police canine unit. <br />If acceptance of this donation is approved the donated funds will be deposited in the Police Canine <br />fund for the purchase of police canine training equipment. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />Staff recommends approval of acceptance of the $15,000 donation from the Coss Family <br />Foundation for the Lino Lakes Public Safety Department’s Canine Unit. <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS <br /> <br />None
