1 <br /> <br /> <br />ENVIRONMENTAL BOARD <br />AGENDA ITEM 6A <br /> <br /> <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Marty Asleson, Environmental Coordinator <br /> <br />MEETING DATE: February 6th, 2017 <br /> <br />TOPIC: Environmental Board Goals 2016/2017 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />2016 Environmental Board Goals were discussed at the January 25th, 2016 meeting. The <br />Following statements have included the suggestions proposed at the meeting: <br /> <br />1. Promote Environmental Stewardship with the citizens of Lino Lakes, and <br />conservation opportunities by communicating environmental initiatives in the city <br />using various means of communication such as: <br /> <br />• Mailings. <br />• Multi-media including social media such as Facebook and possibly <br />Twitter. Double the followers on Facebook. <br />• School “enviro- shows”, promotion in schools. <br />• Partnerships with our two watershed districts. <br />• Newspaper, Environmental Board article <br />• <br /> <br />2. Promote Lino Lakes Environmental Issues to the Public by: <br />• Participate in Earth Day (Date) <br />• Participate in Blue Heron Days (Date) <br />• Partner with Anoka County Recycling Resource Solutions. <br />1. Utilize County Select Committee on Recycling (SCORE) and <br />Local Recycling Development Grant (LRDG) Funds to the <br />maximum extent possible to increase our recycling totals. <br /> 2. Work with local participating businesses on mandated business <br />recycling through Anoka County and “Waste-Wise” staff. <br />3. Partner with our neighborhood groups to educate and start pilot <br />projects to recycle organics. <br />4. Increase our volunteer base in recycling <br />5. Increase services available to residents at the monthly Recycling <br />Day event including additional paper shredding, events, hard drive
