CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 4B <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: John Swenson, Public Safety Director <br />MEETING DA 1E: September 12, 2016 <br />TOPIC: Approve Resolution 16-98 Authorizing City Prosecutor Access to <br />Minnesota Government Data <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br />INTRODUCTION <br />The Lino Lakes City Council approved a contract with GDO Law, formerly known as Geck, <br />Duea & Olson, for prosecution services at the October 12, 2015 Council Meeting. <br />BACKGROUND <br />As part of providing prosecution services, prosecutor must have access to the electronic <br />criminal and court documents. This access is currently granted to the attorney's serving as City <br />Prosecutors through a system that will be upgraded by the State of Minnesota. <br />As part of the roll out of the upgraded Minnesota Government Access (MGA) the State of <br />Minnesota is requiring that the City pass a resolution acknowledging the law firm that is <br />providing prosecution services to the City. This resolution further authorizes staff to sign the <br />Court Data Services Subscriber Amendment to CJDN Subscriber Agreement and State of <br />Minnesota Joint Powers Agreement Authorized Agency agreements. Both agreements are <br />attached to this staff report. <br />All associated costs are covered under the current contract with GDO Law and as such there <br />will be no additional costs to the City. <br />Representative from GDO Law will be at the meeting to address any questions the Council may <br />have. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends the approval of Resolution 16-98. <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />Resolution 16-98 <br />Court Data Services Subscriber Amendment to CJDN Subscriber Agreement <br />State of Minnesota Joint Powers Agreement Authorized Agency <br />
