CITY COUNCIL AGENDA ITEM 5A STAFF ORIGINATOR: Rick DeGardner, Public Services Director MEETING DATE: May 22, 2017 TOPIC: Consider Resolution No. 17-43, Accepting Bids and Awarding a Construction Contract to Sunram Construction Inc., NorthPointe Park Project VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 INTRODUCTION Staff is requesting council authorization to accept bids and award a construction contract to Sunram Construction Inc., for the development of NorthPointe Park. BACKGROUND The City Council approved plans and specifications and authorized the advertisement for bids during the April 10, 2017 City Council meeting. Fourteen Project Manuals were distributed. The bid opening was conducted on Wednesday, May 10 at City Hall. One bid was received. The bid was checked for mathematical accuracy and tabulated. WSB Engineering has worked with Sunram Construction Inc., on previous projects and recommends that the City award a contract to Sunram Construction Inc., for $280,823.00 to include the base bid and Alternates 3-6. Funding for this project is the Dedicated Parks Fund. RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends adoption of Resolution No. 17-43, Accepting the Base Bid and Alternates Numbers 3, 4, 5, and 6 resulting in awarding a Construction Contract in the amount of $280,823.00 to Sunram Construction Inc., of Corcoran, MN.
