CITY OF
Ido lAIV8
MEMORANDUM
DATE: January 17, 1996
TO: Mayor, City Council and City Administrator
FROM: Peter Kluegel, Building Official
SUBJECT: Year End Building Report
A total of 598 building permits were issued in 1995. Total construction valuation
was $40,636,691. This exceeded the 1994 total by $13,923,663. This increased
valuation was mainly attributed to the increased industrial and institutional growth
experienced in 1995. There were 213 new homes constructed in 1995, a decrease of 4
from the previous year. The average construction cost of a single family dwelling was
$122,896.00. The city had 16 commercial, industrial(institutional building permits
totaling $11,694,150.00 in 1995. This figure represents a considerable increase over the
1994 total of 2 permits valued at $172,000.00. Some of the more significant building
projects in 1995 were the $6,519,00.00 chemical dependency building at the Minnesota
Correctional Facility. The Nol Tech, Mag Con, and Blue Heron bisiness in the Apollo
Business Park.
In 1996, I anticipate construction activity in the residential sector to equal that of
1995. In addition, there are some proposed projects planned in the institutional and
industrial areas for 1996.
