TKDA DATE April 19. 1996 TOPIC BACKGROUND: Consideration of Resolution No. 96-41 Ordering the Improvement, Approving the Plans and Specifications and Ordering Advertisement for Bids for the Birch Street Trunk Watermain Improvements This project addresses the need for a trunk watermain extension to serve the; businesses to be located in the Clearwater Creek Development Center near the southeast quadrant of the I-35E/Main Street interchange. The watermain woyld be extended to this area from the existing trunk watermain on Birch Street near Sherman Lake Road. The plans for this project were ordered by the City Council on February 12, 1996 and a draft,set of plans have been submitted to the City staff for their review. Construction of these improvements is scheduled to begin near the end of May, 1996. The funding source for this project is the City's Area/Unit (Enterprise) Fund, no assessments are proposed as part of this project. A copy of the advertisement for bids has been forwarded to the legal newspapers contingent upon the City Council's approval of this resolution. Please note that as the City initiated this project as a trunk system improvement, a 4/5 majority vote is required to order the improvement. DONS: 1. Approve Resolution No. 96-41 Ordering the Improvement, Approving the Plans and Specifications and Ordering Advertisement for Bids for the Birch Street Trunk Watermain Improvements. 2. Order the Improvement but delay action on the Plans and Specifications pending further review by staff. 3. Return the entire matter to staff for further review. RECOMMENDATION: Option No. 1 -Approve Resolution No. 96-41 Ordering the Improvement, Approving the Plans and Specifications and Ordering Advertisement for Bids for the Birch Street Trunk Watermain Improvements.
