AGENDA ITEM 4A. <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR Randy Schumacher, City Administrator <br />DATE 6 October 1995 <br />TOPIC Leave of Absence, Police Records Clerk <br />BACKGROUND <br />Please find attached a letter from the Police Records Clerk requesting a leave <br />of absence. You will also find attached a copy of the existing personnel policy as it <br />applies to Leave of Absences without Pay. This staff person has exhausted all paid <br />leave of absence categories, as well as her Family Medical Leave. <br />It is a council decision whether or not to grant a 90 day leave of absence. An <br />additional leave of absence without pay, up to but not longer than one year, is <br />possible after the initial 90 days. <br />Due to the increase in work load at the police department, the Chief of Police <br />has recommended that a Leave of Absence without Pay not be granted. This <br />employee's physician indicates that a return to work will not be possible for another <br />six months to one year. <br />OPTIONS <br />1. Grant a 90 day Leave without Pay <br />2. Deny a Leave without Pay <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Department head recommends # 2. <br />
