CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />DRUG AND ALCOHOL POLICY <br />ESTABLISHED BY RESOLUTION - 28 MAY 1996 <br />(to be incorporated into employee handbook) <br />Drug Testing <br />The Drug Testing Policy shall be as follows: <br />A. Purpose <br />The City is adopting a drug testing policy not out of distrust of the <br />employees, but rather to provide a better working environment for <br />employees, protection of the community, and to protect the health of the <br />individual employee. <br />B. Policy <br />To protect the health and safety of employees and the public, it is the <br />policy of the City that all its employees be drug and alcohol free in the <br />workplace. <br />This policy has been drafted to balance the individual employee's rights <br />against the rights of co-workers and the community. <br />C. Definitions <br />1. Confirmatory Test Confirmatory Retest. "Confirmatory test" and <br />"Confirmatory retest" means a drug or alcohol test that uses a <br />method of analysis approved by the Minnesota Department of <br />Health as reliable for providing specific data as to the drugs, <br />alcohol, or their metabolites detected in an initial screening test. <br />2. Drug. "Drug means a controlled substance as defined in Minnesota <br />Statute 152.01, Subd. 4. <br />3. Drug and Alcohol Testing. "Drug and alcohol testing" means <br />analysis of a body component sample approved by the Minnesota <br />Department of Health for the purpose of measuring the presence or <br />absence of drugs, alcohol, or their metabolites in the sample tested. <br />
