Pecchia, Chief <br />January 23, 1995 <br />Consideration of Promotions_to the <br />Police Sergeants Positions. <br />of Police <br />Currently the Police Department is without a sergeant <br />creating an increasing workload for the Chief even though as <br />many issues as possible: are being delegated to employees of <br />the police department. Two sergeants would allow greater <br />supervisory coverage for the patrol shift with the sergeants <br />working a combination night power shift (7 pm to 3 am)and a <br />day power/night power variation. The scheduling will be <br />flexible to address the training needs of the probationary <br />sergeants, the needs of the department and the community of <br />Lino Lakes. <br />Officers Steve Mortenson and Bill Hammes have been <br />recommended for promotion to the Police Sergeants Position. <br />The promotion of Officers Mortenson and Hammes demonstrate a <br />commitment to the professional and ethical future of the <br />Lino Lakes Police Department and this city. It is my <br />opinion that Officers Mortenson and Hammes are the future <br />leaders of this organization and they currently possess the <br />intelligence, ethics and skills necessary to serve the <br />citizens of Lino Lakes very well. Through their positive <br />attitudes, continual loyalty to the City and its citizens, I <br />believe they will meet and exceed our very high expectations <br />of theta. <br />OPTIONS <br />1. Approve the promotions of Officer Mortenson and Officer <br />Hammes to sergeant. <br />2. Deny request to promote the officers. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Option No. 1 <br />
