AGENDA ITEM NO. Consent Agenda B
STAFF ORIGINATOR Marilyn Anderson, Clerk -Treasurer
DATE January 20, 1995
TOPIC Consideration of Application for Authorization
for Exemption from Lawful Gambling License, St.
Joseph Catholic Church
BACKGROUND
Minnesota gambling statutes allow non-profit organizations who
conduct fewer than five (5) gambling occasion per year to apply for
an exemption from securing a gambling license. St. Joseph Catholic
Church conducts three (3) bingo occasions each year and therefore,
does not have to secure a gambling license.
The Minnesota gambling statutes do require that the non-profit
organization applying for the exemption notify the City that they
are applying for the exemption. A copy of the Application for
Authorization for Exemption from Lawful Gambling License is
attached as proof of the notification.
I would recommend that the City Council adopt a motionapproving
the application.
OPTTONS
1. Adopt a motion approving the application for exemption.
2. Deny the application for exemption.
3. Return matter to staff for further information.
RECOMMENDATIO
Option -N
