Tellers
Audrey Howlett,
Ex -Officio
Pat Prinzevalle,
Executive Director
Alexandra House, Inc. would like to submit a $5,000 request to fund
Intervention Program services in 1995/96 to battered women and
their children/youth in the City of Lino Lakes.
Domestic assault has progressed from a private crime to an
acknowledged public epidemic. Statewide, approximately 132,000
women are battered annually.
In 1994, Anoka County made approximately 924 arrests for domestic
cases and over 900 victims applied for Orders for Protection. It
is difficult to determine how many cases of domestic assault go
unreported.
There is a critical need for a continued and expanded coordinated
response by police, court, advocates and counseling agencies toward
the problem of domestic violence in the City of Lino Lakes.
Monitoring compliance of each component within legal and social
concern areas will ensure the necessary consequences for domestic
violence.
Current policies, procedures and accountability measures are
designed to provide support to the victim, as well as, information
and referrals to those who batter and increased community
awareness.
Working in coordination with the Lino Lakes community, law
enforcement, courts and counseling agencies result in consistent
consequences for the assailant and assistance and safety for the
victim ultimately reducing the incidence of domestic violence in
our community.
P.O.
