FEB 07 '96 15:54 CITY OF LINO LAKES P.1/1
CITY OF
IINO LAKJS
The Park and. Recreation Board reviewed the site and facility plan
for the new midi1e school at their February 5th meeting. Several
issues were discussed,
Safe access from the east side of Lake Drive for residents was
one concern, as well as the schools access to the natural
environment. Some sort of trail on the east side of Lake Drive
hooking into the trail on the north side of Aqua Lane was
suggested.
There was a general concern for the forest amenities on the site
and would like as much of the naturalness as possible remain
intact after all needed elements in the site are considered.
i.S a. matter of public need and in retrospect reference to the
agreement that was written for the Rice Lake Elementary School
site, the Park Board strongly supported the need to enter into a
similar site agreement with Centennial School District for this
new school.
It was' felt the first preference options of this agreement would
greatly help to provide for the communities recreation needs and
is a good partnership with Centennial. School District. In
particular the board was made aware that there is much demand for
the indoor recreation spaces, and would like to have first
preference for at least one gymnasium facility.
This agreement would not bind the school district to allowing
Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation to monopolize this facility. It
would, however, allow us to program on a first preference basis
at ].east one gymnasium after the school district has fulfilled
all of their needs.
PARK, RECREATION, FORESTRY, AND RECYCLING DEPARTMENTS
7204 LAKE DRIVE, LINO LAKES, MINNESOTA 55014
(612) 464-5562
EXHIBIT I
