mK <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR Mary Kay Wyland/Jeanie Kenow <br />DATE March 7, 1996. <br />TOPIC ANIMAL ORDINANCE - Public Hearing <br />Al 0 <br />The Planning & Zonine Board will, recall that City Staff and others, <br />have been working on an Animal Control Ordinance for several <br />months. The P & Z first discussed a draft ordinance in July of <br />1995. The draft ordinance was then reviewed by the Park Board and <br />scheduled for a neighborhood meeting on September 5, 1995. <br />Following that meeting, a public hearing was scheduled b fore the <br />P & Z on November 8, 1995. At the November 8th meeting several <br />issues remained apparent and the P & Z formed a committee to review <br />the proposed ordinance. This committee consisted of Ed,Schanes as <br />Chairman, Tom Mesich, Darrell Cooper, Steve Aundre, John Sullivan, <br />Sharon Lane, Jeanie Kenow and Mary Kay Nyland.. <br />The Animal Ordinance Committee met on February 1 and 'ebrary 16 to <br />review the draft ordinance. The main changes to the ordinance <br />provide for two dogs per household without a Kennel License, <br />private kennels allowed on any residential property of one (1) acre <br />or more with a conditional use permit, and the licensing of cats. -..„„ <br />The balance of the ordinance is very similar to the one originally <br />presented to the P & Z and will be reviewed at the Public Hearing. 1 <br />Staff would recommend adoption of the submitted Animal <br />presented. <br />▪ Approve Ordinance as submitted.. <br />.
