AGENDA ITEM 11B
STAFF ORIGINATOR: David Ahrens, Public Works Director
DATE:,
11/9/95
TOPIC: Sunset Road Utility Extension
Receive Report and Approve of Plans and SQecifications
BACK ROUND:
Pursuant to Minnesota Statute, Chapter 429, and Chapter 8 of the Lino Lakes
Charter, Council must receive the report studying the proposed utility
improvements to Sunset Road.
As a result of the utility construction done in conjunction with the senior housing
project, the sewer and water mains are readily accessible to serve the petitioning
properties at 7164 and 7172 Sunset Road. The size, type and depths of the
existing utilities are adequate to serve the two properties. A third property that,
at the moment, is not interested in connecting to the utilities can also be served
by the proposed improvements. The City Engineer has studied the proposed
improvements and has determined that the improvements are feasible and
should be constructed as shown on the attached plans.
The engineer's estimate for the proposed improvements is $38,380. Funding is
proposed to be through the collection of assessments levied against the
benefiting properties.
The property owners have signed a waiver of public hearing and appeal of
assessment (copy attached). Therefore, no public hearing is required and
council can approve the plans and specifications at the same time as receiving
the report. Also, the property owners have waived fifty of the sixty day waiting
period to order the project.
OPTIONS:
1. Return to staff for further review.
Adopt Resolution No. 95-150 Receiving Report and Approving Plans and
Specifications for the Sunset Road Utility Extension Project.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that Council adopt option number 2.
