5.• <br />AGENDA ITEM NO. 18A <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR Marilyn Anderson, Clerk -Treasurer <br />DATE November 9, 1995 <br />TOPIC Renewal of the Gambling License for the <br />Circle -Lex VFW, Post No. 6583, Ladies <br />Auxiliary <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Ladies Auxiliary is requesting renewal of their gambling license which <br />expires March 31, 1995. This gambling operation is based at the Circle -Lex <br />VFW Post No. 6583. There have been no complaints or comments on this <br />operation. <br />The Ladies Auxiliary has complied with the provision of the Lino Lakes <br />Gambling Code. They are required to donate 10% of their net proceeds to <br />benefit citizens of the City. The Auxiliary has donated money for purchase of <br />ballistics vests for the Police Department as well as money for a new <br />American and POW flag, orange safety vests and IBM computer <br />equipment/software. Other donations include dollars for the operation of the <br />Youth Safety Camp in both of the two (2) years that the Youth Safety Carnp <br />has been held. This organization also donates money to private individuals in <br />need in this City and the surrounding communities. <br />OPTIONS <br />1. Adopt a motion approving the renewal of the gambling license. <br />2. Return to staff for further information. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Option No. 1 <br />
