AGENDA ITEM 8A <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR John Powell, Acting City Engineer <br />DATE May 19. 1995 <br />TOPIC <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Resolution No. 95-49 <br />Accepting Bids for Hodgson Road <br />Trunk Watermain improvements <br />At the March 27, 1995 Lino Lakes City Council meeting, the City Council passed <br />Resolution No. 95-37, approving plans and specifications for this project and ordering <br />the Advertisement for Bids. The bids were opened at 10:00 A.M. on Monday,â–ºpril 24, <br />1995. <br />The lowest responsible bid for this project was received from Bonine Excavating in the <br />amount of $237,947.86 which was about 13% over the Engineer's Estimate and could <br />not be awarded due to City Charter restrictions. We have since contacted Bonine <br />Excavating and have negotiated a reduction in the bid amount to $230,200.50 which <br />would comply with Charter restrictions. <br />OPTIONS: <br />1. Approve Resolution No. 95-49 accepting the bids and awarding the contract at the <br />reduced amount. <br />Reject the bids. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Option No. 1- Approve Resolution No. 95-49 accepting the Bids for the Hodgson Road <br />Trunk Watermain Project and awarding the contract to Bonine <br />Excavating in the amount of $230,200.50. <br />
