ItMetropolitan Council <br />Working for the Region, Planning for the Future <br />May 8, 1995 <br />RECEIVED <br />MAY - 9 1995 <br />«{T' OF LINO I_A> E� <br />FOR YOUR INFORMATION <br />TO: Metropolitan Area Legislators and Local Governing Bodies Heaving Jurisdictions <br />Within Metropolitan Council Districts 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16 <br />The Metropolitan C ,un c:, the appointing authority for members of the Met:.ij litari Palk,and <br />Open Space Commission. Currently four seats on the Commission have terms that have expired. <br />Pursuant to Minnesota Statutes 473.303, Subd. 2(b) we are notifying "in writing the governing <br />bodies of the statutory and home rule charter cities, counties and towns having territory in the <br />districts for which members are to be appointed" that the Council's Appointments Committee will <br />hold a public meeting to hear from candidates and others who wish to. speak on their behalf. This <br />meeting will afford each candidate the opportunity to present information about their background <br />and experience in public policy issues, with particular emphasis on any expertise or special interest <br />they may have in the commission's area of endeavor. In making its recommendations; the <br />committee will also consider evidence of the candidate's commitment to communicate regularly <br />on issues before the commission with Council members, legislators and local elected officials in <br />their district. <br />The public meeting will be held on Thursday, June 1, 1995, at 7 p.m.`in the Metropolitan Council <br />Chambers, Mems Park--Centrej 230 East Street, St. Paul: This location was selected because <br />it is centrally located amidst the districts that candidates must reside within.
