AGENDA ITEM 3 D
STAFF ORIGINATOR Mary Kay Wyland
DATE April 21, 1995
TOPIC
95-7-C, Teleport, 6221 Holly Drive, Amended
Conditional Use Permit
This case involves a request to install two (2) satellite antenna's
within an existing telecommunication compound on Holly Drive. One
antenna will be 9.2 meter and the other 6.1 meter,
The property is Zoned Rural and located just west of the
north/south leg of Holly Drive. The City's Coâ–ºprehensive Plan
indicates the property as rural. According to the City's Zoning
Ordinance, transmission towers are permitted with a conditional use
permit. The original permit for the site was approved in 1982 with
updates in 1984, 1988 and 1990. The site contains a micro -wave
tower and components, doppler radar, several satellite antennas and
other site improvements including fencing, berming, a 44' x 52'
block building containing transmitters and receivers and a driveway
to Holly Drive.
The disks are directed to one or a group of satellites and then
used to transmit such things as the Super Bowl, Stanley cup,
Midwest Sport and Value Vision Stationing, Presidential News
Conferences, etc.
Staff has reviewed the request and would recommend approval with
all conditions contained in the original and subsequent permits and
the condition that proper building permits be obtained prior to
installation.
The Planning and Zoning Board recommended approval of this request
at their April 12, 1995 meeting with the conditions outlined above.
1. Approve Amended Conditional Use Permit with condition that
proper building permits be obtained prior to installation.
2. Deny Permit
Option 1
