GUIDELINES FOR <br />STREET MAINTENANCE <br />The following guidleines are to be used in the annual maintenance of roads thoughout the City of Lino <br />Lakes. These guidelines are subject to the discretion of the Public Works Director and, due to special <br />circumstances, can vary. <br />1. Sweep all roads <br />a) Immediately as weather allows (April - May), the City's streets are to be swept <br />b) Perform periodic summer sweeping <br />c) Conduct street sweeping in the fall prior to freezing (September - October) <br />2. Repair snow plow damage <br />a) Repair sod damage from preceding snow season <br />3. Crak filling <br />a) Clean and fill cracks on all City streets <br />i) Priority given to new streets constructed to City standard <br />4. Seal Coat Program <br />a) Seal coat streets throughout City - by Contract <br />i) Two to three years after wear course is installed in new developments <br />ii) As -needed - based on condition of street <br />iii) Follow an approximately 7 year cycle for seal coating <br />5. Install wear course in new developments - by Contract <br />a) Install wear course in new developments upon 80% build -out <br />b) Repair catch basins and culverts <br />6. Patch roads <br />a) Maintain roads based on the following priority: <br />i) First priority will be given to roadways constructed to City standards (post - <br />1986) <br />ii) Non-structural road failures will be corrected with proper maintenance measure <br />iii) Roadways in areas that likely will not be developed within 5 to 10 years will <br />receive proper maintenance measures as determined by P.W. Supt. This <br />includes the correction of subgrade failures (removal of asphalt and subgrade <br />and replacement with new hot mix). <br />iv) Roadways in areas that likely will be developed within 5 to 10 years will <br />receive proper maintenance measures as determined by P.W. Supt. exluding the <br />correction of subgrade failures. <br />DEFINITIONS <br />Reconstruction/Improvement - this work includes the removal of pavement and subgrade, as <br />necessary, to construct a roadway to current City standards. This work generally includes full - <br />width work for a significant length of roadway. Work could include installation of curb and <br />gutter and subsurface drains. <br />Maintenance - this work includes the removal of pavement and subgrade to repair deteriorated <br />sections of roadway. This work is done on limited area. <br />
