Ms. Schwartz suggested calling the prison and seeing if they could do it as part of a <br />work release program. <br /> <br />STRATEGIC PLANNING/CONNEXUS ENERGY <br />Ms. Divine explained that Connexus has offered a strategic planning workshop to bring together <br />representatives of business to look at economic development issues that face the city. She <br />suggested inviting members of the business community. Members suggested a representative <br />from the EDA be included. Members suggested meeting with Connexus, developing a strategy, <br />and then picking it up in the fall. <br /> <br />CITY WEBSITE <br />Discussion will be tabled to next meeting. Mr. Helgemoe suggested putting TIF information on <br />the site outlining what it is. Ms. Kuschke suggested a Lino Lakes Business Directory. Ms. Divine <br />stated she will work on it. Getting an intern was suggested to make an updated list. <br /> <br />RYAN PROPOSAL <br />Ms. Divine informed the committee that Ryan Companies is proposing two 6,000 sq. ft. multi- <br />tenant buildings in the Lino Lakes MarketPlace. It will go to council in July. In discussion about <br />abatement, it was suggested the word “rebate” be used instead of abatement. <br /> <br />YMCA <br />Ms. Divine said the Council will be holding a public hearing on creating a Tax Abatement <br />District to use to meet its commitment of $1.5 million to the YMCA. The taxes generated from <br />the portion of the Woods Edge development that is not within a TIF District would be used. Ms. <br />Hansmann said it had a negative connotation to it, because residents have been told that part of <br />this development was going on the tax rolls and there are costs to setting up abatement. <br />Springsted will be at the next EDAC meeting for discussion in July. Mr. Milbauer suggested <br />private placement of the bonds. Ms. Divine said the YMCA hired architects Ankeny & Kell. <br />They anticipate beginning construction in October. <br /> <br />NEXT MEETING <br />The July EDAC meeting is tentatively scheduled for July 14. <br /> <br />Meeting adjourned.
