Job description <br />Economic Development Assistant <br />Introduction <br />The Economic Development Assistant works in cooperation with the Community <br />Development Director to establish a positive environment to promote economic <br />development and to provide information and marketing services to businesses and <br />industries locating or expanding within the City. <br />Duties and Responsibilities <br />Public Relations <br />1. Employ effective promotions and advertising techniques to increase awareness of <br />the City and to cultivate a "City Image." <br />2. Write, design and oversee pre -press production of marketing brochures, packet <br />materials, newsletter inserts, press releases and other materials using desktop <br />publishing for marketing and promoting the community to prospective businesses. <br />Provide support to all City departments to effectively promote City services by <br />maintaining updated resident packets for distribution. <br />3. Organize and promote groundbreakings, grand openings, and other promotional <br />events to support new and existing businesses. Provide media with articles and <br />photographs about specific economic development activities and business news. <br />4. Represent the city at public functions such as Chamber of Commerce and other <br />local business meetings, and take other appropriate steps to maintain a working <br />relationship with the business community. <br />5. Prepare and provide information regarding land availability, markets, workforce <br />availability, taxes, transportation, utilities, etc. to City businesses and prospective <br />businesses. <br />6. Produce and update a guide to standardize the style and format of City written <br />materials. <br />Existing Business Program <br />1. Coordinate the Existing Business Program to maintain an on-going dialogue and <br />support for local businesses. Maintain an existing business roster for mailings. <br />Encourage community support of local businesses. <br />
