AGENDA ITEM No. 7
STAFF ORIGINATOR: Marty Asleson
DATE: December 16, 1994
TOPIC: Cooperative Integrated Recreation Resolution
BACKGROUND
For the past several months the Parks and Recreation Department has
been working on a pilot project, funded through Community
Development Block Grant moneys, aimed at addressing the city's
Americans with Disabilities requirements. A program supervisor was
hired and it was found that the municipal therapeutic recreation
programs that have been successful are those that were part of a
coalition of other cities, school districts, and other ;public
agencies.
We have began some preliminary discussions with other public
agencies in this area. Since Our Program supervisor is no longer
with us, we would like to proceed with a position replacement with
the moneys left over in the grant or be considered for funding in
the next cycle of CDBG.
In order to qualify (or disqualify), this as a consideration the
attached resolution of support for this initiative will be sent to
the other public agencies.
OPTIONS
1. Continue with this next discovery phase and pass resolution No.
94 - 100.
2. Refer back to staff for more consideration.
RECOMMENDATION
Option 1
