ANOKA CONSERVATION DISTRICT
Raintree Professional Center
11931 Highway 65 NE
Blaine, MN 55434
612/757-4221 Fax/757-4771
City of Lino Lakes
1189 Main St
Lino Lakes, MN 55014
Dear City of Lino Lakes:
RECEIVED
AUG - 8 1995
('ITV OF 1.1 N O LAKES
August 4, 1995
The Anoka Conservation District has received funds from the Minnesota Board of Water
and Soil Resources to assist Anoka County residents with sealing unused wells. Unused
wells create a potential source for groundwater contamination because they can act as a
conduit for surface pollution to enter groundwater supplies. The state well construction
code has required sealing of unused wells since 1974.
The unused well -sealing cost share program will reimburse 50% of the direct cost to seal
a well. There is a maximum cost of $2,000 per well. The property owner is responsible
for the remaining 50% of the cost. There is no limit to the number of unused wells per
property or owner that are eligible for cost -share funding.
We are trying our best to inform everyone about this program and would appreciate you
informing others who are not aware of this opportunity to apply for funds. This is the
first year we are offering this cost share program and hope it will be successful in sealing
high priority wells and assisting as many people as possible. If you have any questions
regarding this program, please contact me at 757-4221.
Respectfully,
Tony Brough
District Technician
