AGENDA ITEM NO. 9B <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR <br />DATE <br />TOPIC <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Jeanie Kenow, CSO <br />July 3,1996 <br />PROCLAMATION, National Night Out 1996 <br />National Night Out was designed to heigban crime and drug prevention awareness, <br />generate - mai participation in` lc l anti-crime efforts, strengthen neighborhood <br />spirit and police -community relations amt send a message to criminals letting them know <br />neighborhoods are organized and fightingback. On National Night Out, residents lock <br />their doors, tum on their outside lights from 7:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M. and <br />with neighborhood watch groups. <br />In previous years, the City Council was invited to ride with the Police Officers as they <br />visit each neighborhood group. The City Council is invited to ride with the Police <br />Officers again this year. If the City Council or any resident would like more information <br />about this event, you are invited to call the Lino Lakes Police Department, 780-0605 and <br />ask for CSO Jeanie Kenow. <br />OPTIONS <br />1. Adopt a motion Proclaiming August 6, 1996 as National Night <br />2. Return to staff for further information. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Option No. 1 <br />
