AGENDA ITEM NO. 7A <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR Dave Ahrens, City Engineer <br />DATE August 23,1996 <br />TOPIC <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Consider Approval of Consulting Engineer <br />Agreement/Transportation Plan - SRF <br />Consulting Group, Inc. <br />The City of Lino lakes is required to update its Comprehensive Plan, which includes a <br />transportation component, per Metropolitan Council rules. Planning for the <br />Comprehensive Plan process Baas begun by the formation of a task force steering <br />committee. Staff has interviewed and received a proposal from SRF Consulting Group, <br />Inc., to prepare a Transportation Plan component of the Comprehensive Plan and to assist <br />the steering committee with transportation issues or questions. <br />The attached agreement outlines the scope of services and the basis of payment. The not - <br />to -exceed amount for the transportation Plan is $21,500.00 with additional costs for SRF <br />attendance at meetings and public informational meetings. In addition, if the City elects <br />to have a special area study done, it is estimated that it will cost an additional $1,000.00 <br />to $3,000.00 per study area. it is estimated that the Transportation Plan will cost from <br />$30,000.00 to $40,000.00 depending on the number of meetings and special area studies <br />done. <br />At the Council work session on Wednesday, August 21, 1996, Mr. Ferrol Iobn from <br />SRF Consulting Group outlined the process of preparing a transportation plan and also <br />gave the City Council examples of other plans that his firm has completed. He also <br />answered questions from the City Council. <br />OPTIONS <br />1. Approve the Consulting Engineer Agreement between S <br />Inc. and the City of Lino Lakes. <br />2. Return to staff for further review. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Option No. 1 <br />
