AGENDA ITEM NO. 4 <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR Mayor Landers and Fran Kurk <br />DATE September 20, 1996 <br />TOPIC Consideration of Establishing a Mayor's <br />Community Service Award Committee <br />BACKGROUND: <br />A Lino Lakes resident, Fran Kurk sent a letter to Mayor Landers suggesting the <br />development of a Mayor's Community Service Award for City staff and volunteers and <br />that a committee be formed to help nominate people for the award. Ms. Kurk also said <br />that she would be willing to help organize the committee and help nominate people for <br />the award. Ms. Kurk's letter is attached to this "green sheet" <br />Ms. Kurk's proposal was submitted to the City Council and it was discussed at'two (2) <br />City Council worksessions. Five (5) persons have been proposed for the committee. <br />They are: <br />Al Wiese (Lions Club) <br />739 Vicky Lane <br />Lino Lakes, Minnesota <br />Officer Jeannie Kenow (CSO) <br />Lino Lakes Police Department <br />Lino Lakes, Minnesota <br />Connie Bauman (Girl Scout Leader) <br />8340 - Fourth Avenue <br />Lino Lakes, Minnesota <br />Dr. Neal Benjamin (Boy Scouts) <br />466 Main Street <br />Lino Lakes, Minnesota <br />Fran Kurk <br />580 Chippewa Trail <br />Lino Lakes, Minnesota <br />If the City Council concurs with the above list of committee candidates, a motion should <br />be adopted approving the committee. The committee will meet and prepare the criteria <br />for nominating a person for the Mayor's Community Service Award. Once the committee <br />
