AGENDA M NO. 1-B <br />STAFF ORIGINNATOR <br />DATE <br />TOPIC <br />BACKGROUND: <br />derson, Clerk -Treasurer <br />October 10, 1996 <br />Application from St. Joseph Catholic Church for <br />an Exemption from Lawful Gambling License <br />Non-profit organizations are allowed under the State Gambling Statutes to apply <br />for an exemption from a gambling license if they conduct fewer than five (5) <br />gambling occasions per year. The Church conducts three (3) gambling occasions <br />each year. The first gambling occasion is at Easter. Proceeds are used to provide <br />food for needed members. The second occasion is the annual August Festival. The <br />third gambling occasion is near Thanksgiving. Two (2) gambling occasions are held <br />to help fund Thanksgiving food baskets and to help fund high school scholarships at <br />Centennial High School <br />Applications fir an exemption from lawful gambling license fo <br />food baskets and the high school scholarships are attached to th <br />OPTIONS <br />1. This item is under the Consent Agenda. If the Council feels that this request is <br />acceptable, the item would be part of the motion to approve the Consent Agenda. <br />If the Council feels that this request needs further information, the item should be <br />taken off the Consent Agenda and placed under "New Business". <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Option No. 1 <br />
