Memorandum
Date: July 5, 1995
To: Chief Pecchia
From: Steve Mortenson, Sergeant /111
Subject: June Community Policing Projects
The following is a list of details, projects or assignments were completed or started
concerning community oriented policing for the month of June 1995.
Officers continued to monitor vehicles passing on the shoulder on Main Street after a local
resident expressed her concern about the problem. Officers monitored this particular area
for one month and wrote traffic citations or written warnings to those they found violating
the statute pertaining to passing on the shoulder.
Officer Young responded to a complaint of a junk vehicle being parked at 1141 Birch
Street. Officer Young spoke to the homeowner and issued Warn citation #1580 to the
homeowner advising him he was in violation of the city ordinance.
On June 12,Officers Strege and Young both responded to the 6300 Block of Ware Road
on a complaint of speeding vehicles. Both officers ran stationary radar as well as gave this
area extra patrol. This is an on going problem.
On June 15, Officers Costa and Rausch responded to the 6300 block of Ware Road on a
complaint of speeding vehicles. Both officers gave this area extra patrol and did no locate
any violators. They passed this information on to the other officers.
On June 14, Officer Strege received a complaint of a 19 you male selling cigarettes to
minors at the Tom Thumb store. Officer Strege monitored this for several days and did
not find a problem of adults selling cigarettes to minors. The staff at Tom Thumb was
appreciative for the police spending time on this.
On June 16, Officers Costa and Rausch responded to a complaint from City Hall of
animals being neglected at 409 Andall Street. Officers found there to be plenty of food and
water for the dogs.
On June 21, Officers Young, Strege and Wagner were given a memo by myself advising
them of the Performances in the Park that is sponsored by the City of Lino Lakes and
were asked to make an appearance at these in which they did on the June 25 concert.
There are three more concerts they will attend - July 9, 16 & 23.
