FACT SHEET <br /> <br />Transient Merchant, Peddler, Canvasser & Solicitors <br />Chapter 612, Lino Lakes Code of Ordinances <br /> <br /> <br />WHAT THE CITY LICENSES <br /> Transient Merchant is a business temporarily “setting up” on private property and <br />selling <br /> Canvassing is the business of going door-to-door selling merchandise or services for <br />future delivery <br /> Peddling is the business of carrying merchandise for sale door-to-door <br /> Excluded from regulations is sale of newspapers, food sales to retail/wholesale <br />establishments, sales with an appointment, garage sales, vendors seeking to <br />establish a regular route (such as for solid waste collection), and school aged <br />children selling for fund raisers <br /> Charitable, religious, patriotic, philanthropic and other non-profits don’t need a <br />license but are required to submit an application for a “non profit” permit <br /> Distribution of flyers door-to-door (without contact) is not licensed but a <br />notification of the activity is sent to the Police Department <br /> <br />LICENSING PROCEDURE <br /> One license required per business - all representatives are covered <br /> Fee is $250 for up to six months <br /> Background for all company representatives required <br /> Representatives required to carry license (with photo) and display upon request <br /> <br />PROHIBITIONS <br /> No sales or soliciting allowed before 9 a.m. or past one half hour past sunset <br /> No sales or soliciting at premises displaying a “no soliciting” sign <br /> No sales or soliciting on public property or right of way <br />
